Red's Restaurant in Hernando, FL, is widely appreciated for its hearty American breakfast and lunch offerings with generous portions and flavorful dishes such as their popular fish sandwich and Western omelet. The restaurant's rustic, vintage ambiance, including outdoor seating surrounded by nature, adds to its charm despite the interior being described as somewhat worn and dimly lit. Cleanliness and attentive service consistently receive positive remarks. Open only until early afternoon and closed on Mondays, its limited hours contribute to its busy atmosphere during operating times. Overall, Red's is valued for its satisfying comfort food, welcoming environment, and fair pricing, making it a favored local spot for morning and midday meals.

While visiting friends in Hernando FL thay took me to lunch at Reds. The building is old looking with antique lawn cutting equipment as decoration on the outside. Just walking in you have to notice the parking lot is full. The inside is worn but everything was very clean. Reds serves breakfast and lunch and closes at 2pm. I had their fish sandwich. It was excellent. The fish was large enough for a dinner portion. It came with a choice of 2 sides. A friend had a burger with fries. She said it was huge and tasted vg. My other friend has spaghetti and meatballs. All of us could only finish half of our meal. I definitely would eat there weekly if i lived closer.

All I can say is oh my God. They're simple description for this is that it's scrumptious sausage gravy. They did not let me down it's a breakfast just by itself you don't have to add eggs or nothing. NEW: Adding something to my reviews: I am issuing a crossthe-area notice that there are so many really innovative and what I like to call gourmet grunge Recipes like the ones you see on the gourmet cooking shows and things don’t seem to change very often at many of our local restaurants so I am asking that chefs do specials quite often with really innovative or gourmet grunge items. I’m gonna have my own rating system from now on we’re at the beginning of every review I’m going to say whether I’m bored with this place and they’ll be three degrees of this. Bored, relatively excited, and exciting and innovative.

We finally visited Red’s on a Saturday morning in July, 2024. We arrived fairly early, so it was fairly quiet. We have been trying to try Red’s for months, but just could not get it done. They are only open Tuesday - Sunday, 7Am - 2PM. So they are breakfast and lunch only. So anyway, we arrived around 8AM. As I said, Red’s was quiet when we arrived. We were told to sit where we would like. We chose a table inside, instead of out on the deck. Then we met our waitress. Her name was Shannon. (I hope I spelled that correct) Anyway, Shannon was a pleasure to meet, and was top notch. Originally from Texas, Shannon made our breakfast visit a delight. I ordered Eggs Benedict (which was very good). The potatoes were great. But I wanted to try the sausage gravy. So Shannon added a little on my potatoes, so I could give it a try. So I got to have both. The wife had French toast, with extra real butter. (Thank you Shannon) Which the wife also really enjoyed. So our meal was excellent in all respects. The prices seemed fair to us. The portions were not going to let us leave hungry. What more could we want. But let mer be fair. We really enjoyed Red’s. Folks who only like high class dining, may not be as happy as we were. So remember, it’s more of a country rustic style restaurant, with good food. If you’re OK with that. You may enjoy Red’s. The staff all seemed very friendly and seemed to want folks to have a great experience. One even went out a squeegeed the dew off of the windows, so folks could have a nice view of a beautiful morning. It probably cleaned them as well. Just nice folks. As I already said, the restaurant itself was of rustic style. Lots of wood, pretty dark (that some folks may not care for), and just my style of a country eatery. I felt home again. It’s been a while since we have been in a private restaurant instead of all the chain restaurants that seem to be the normal anymore. I will say that I didn’t care for how the light bulbs in the table lamp, over our table, shined in my face. I had to put my hat on so that the brim would block it. Unfortunately, that goes against my rule of not wearing my hat at the dinner table. The wife said that the ladies room continued the rustic theme. And was clean. So if you like rustic style eateries, Red’s is your place. I normally do not give out a lot of five star ratings, unless they are above and beyond in their field. Red's is not perfect. But they are quite good. I gave them five stars. More importantly, we will definitely be back.

They make the best Western Omelet. Portions are quite large, and the service is great. Highly recommend giving Red's a try.

Rustic restaurant. It has been in business for about 15 years. Very good food. A little dark inside but there is outdoor seating and on a fair weather day it's very nice. Swampy area around outdoor eating but very beautiful with plenty of trees. No bugs, either. Service is great, too. The menu has plenty to choose from and fair prices. I'll be going again and again and again. I wish they stayed open past 2 pm.

I love the older decor, the food was absolutely delicious. Be careful ordering the pancakes they are bigger than the plates they come out on. Will definitely eat here again. Love, love, loved it. I ate all my food. I had the French toast.

Went out for an enjoyable motorcycle ride and stopped here for lunch. Ordered the Ruben sandwich, with fries, and coleslaw. The meat was piled high and the taste was very good. The service was great, the prices were fair, and the restaurant was down home, with an old Florida like atmosphere. We sat outside on the deck and had a very nice lunch. When in the area I would definitely stop in again.

This is our 2nd time here! We ate here as a group last year. We came down for a quad riding trip and the breakfast is always amazing. It’s HUGE portions. I’m talking, hardly able to finish breakfast portions. And it’s SO good. The kids menu is good too and definitely not lacking in size either! I look forward to next years breakfast too!
